A few years back, the PTA matched WCPSS grant money to build a new playground for the 3-5 graders. The intention was always to address the K-2 playground needs, but technology needs took priority for the past few years. The PTA is now in a position to raise funds to again match WCPSS grant money to renovate the K-2 playground. Wake County has already be contacted regarding approved vendors. A playground committee needs to be formed to listen to the proposals of the various vendors, narrow down options, and decide on a company to use. Kendra Kelley, Beth Lewis, Jill Schwadron and Leigh Canulli have taken the lead on this so far, but need more parents to listen to the vendor presentations and provide input to help decide who to use. Mrs. Fillard need a parent from Tracks 2, 3, and 4 to volunteers to pack the snack bags for needy children. This volunteer opportunity would be for about an hour every two weeks. The first of two Durham Bulls "Bully Busters" Programs was cancelled two weeks ago due to school being out. This assembly has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 12th for Tracks 2 and 3.. The assembly for Monday March 16th is still scheduled and will be attended by Track 4. Unfortunately, the Durham Bulls need to end the program by March 31st, so a make up day for when Track 1 is in school is not possible. Therefore, Track 1 students are welcome to come in on the the March 16th date with a parent to see the assembly. Assembly times are 9:00 and 9:45.
