The 2018-19 Outdoor Classroom is in full bloom and producing delicious summer vegetables and herbs! Come visit with your child to see what they have planted. We are having a garden workday on Saturday, August 4th at 8:30am. Bring your kids, water and garden gloves! No green thumbs required. We need parent volunteers! Our garden would not exist without the help from our parents. A Sign-up Genius coming soon. Volunteer to help your teacher bring their students outside to learn, explore and be inspired by the nature around them. Plant, harvest & weed, read, free writing, art, scavenger hunts, measure, explore shapes! Your students learn about the life cycles of worms and butterflies. What a great way to learn hands on. Right here in the Outdoor Classroom! New! The garden now has tables and a shade structure thanks to parent donations and a volunteer Eagle Scout project. Any questions, donations or looking for opportunities to volunteer?

What a beautiful learning garden day! the children, measured, planted peas, cucumbers, flowers, watered, weeded, tilled dirt, found slugs, worms, ants, rolly polys, bees and grasshoppers, and talked about the water cycle, straightened the path, and lastly picked up litter.
Thank you to all who volunteered on Saturday in the garden! For anyone who'd like to help, we have another Grounds day on October 17, from 9-11am.
Take at look... Hello All!
I was out in the garden last night, and can say that the tomatoes, okra, peppers, eggplant, basil, oregano and mint are all still producing, so I don't think they should be removed yet. We have lots of "done" sunflower heads- great for learning activities such as counting, and can be dried out to feed the birds- also to plant next year. So feel free to go out and clip some off! If anyone likes to make pesto, we have basil galore. If you would like a bed for fall- please contact Kelly Cancro asap, and for those of you who had a bed this summer, if she has not heard from you, we will contact you to find out. In the meantime, if a plant is "done" take it out and compost it and we will do the same for you. We will have mulch delivered at the end of September to mulch the paths. The garden is Buzzing with lots of butterflies and lots of great insects! In addition, we could really use some art out there! We were also thinking... wouldn't it be awesome for the 5th grade legacy project to have the kids create a cement path to the garden with imprints of kids hands, tiles, stones, leave prints... just an idea:) Have A Green Day!
