It seems hard to believe that we are in our last, full week of August. September is fast approaching. Football is in full swing and our next, big PTA event will be here before we know it. Look for information and ways to help out at the MCES Book Fair.
Big Kudos to Jade Van Ert and Angela Murphy for their time and commitment to Go Play Save Fundraiser. It was an every day commitment and they pulled it off with ease. Thanks to all the folks who stepped in to help distribute and collect the books. If you haven’t turned in your book or orders please do so as soon as possible. Our next General PTA meeting will be held on September 15th at 7-8pm in the Learning Commons. Please join us to learn more about your MCES PTA. If you have any questions or comments about MCES PTA, please feel to contact me at [email protected]. Thank you! Heather Lynch

The first Board and General PTA meetings were held on July 21. I was happy to have a good turnout.. In years past, General PTA meetings were held every month. After much discussion, we have decided to hold our General PTA meetings every other month. We know how busy and hectic our schedules can be and hope this will allow you a chance to attend our MCES PTA meetings.
The revised schedule is: September 15th, November 17th, January19th, March15th and May16. All meeting will be from 7-8pm in the Media Center. List of 5 reasons to attend a MCES PTA meeting: 1. Connect with other parents. 2. Be the first to know about important news and events at MCES. 3. Have a voice in activities and programs the MCES PTA supports 4. Learn how students and teachers at MCES benefit from the work of PTA. 5. Volunteer your time to a make difference in the school community. Hope to see you all at our next meeting in September! Heather Lynch [email protected] We will be holding our first, General PTA meeting on Tuesday at 7pm in the Learning Commons. I encourage all members to attend. We will be voting on our current budget. Our PTA needs your vote! Don't forget to turn in your 2015-16 PTA membership form. You should have received it in your Tuesday folder last week (it's on a yellow sheet of paper). Your membership supports our school community and benefits our kids in too many ways to count. I am excited to begin my term as your PTA president. The PTA has been busy planning various fun events and school programs that will take place throughout the upcoming school year.
It is because of the strong volunteer efforts of our parents and the dedication of our teachers that we are able to offer so many activities throughout the school year. The 5th graders have completed their legacy project. The project was to choose their favorite book and write on a note card why that book was chosen. Some classes where asked to choose a favorite early reading level book and some classes were asked to chose a higher level reading book. The note cards were attached to the inside of the book for future MCES students to read. The early level reading books with be donated to the Kindergarten classrooms and the higher level reading books will be donated to the Learning Commons. The most popular early level reading books were books by Dr. Seuss, specifically The Lorax and Oh, the Places You'll Go. Variations of If you give a .(Mouse) a (Cookie) were also highly recommended. The most popular books for higher level readers were the Percy Jackson Series, Out of My Mind, All the Lovely Bad Ones and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help with Field Day last Friday. The children had a great time.
The Johnny's Pizza GNO was a huge success. Look for information about upcoming GNOs when school starts back in July. The PTA is wrapping up their 2014-2015 year.
